The Proteas Veterans’ vice-captain and wicket-keeper for the Over-50 World Cup, Mario Solomons represented Western Province and South African Schools in the late-80s.
He progressed to the Western Province Colts and Academy sides before moving to the WP ‘B’ side where he played for six years, captaining them in two of those.
Solomons’ club career saw him represent Rivertonians, Montrose and Helderberg, before returning to Montrose when the Veterans league kicked off in Cape Town.
He lists his career highlights as making his First-Class debut for Western Province against the touring Australian team at Newlands, and making the Proteas Veterans team following the Interprovincial Tournament in October 2022.
