A formidable bowler who is more than handy with the bat, Goolam Taliep is one of the ‘bankers’ that Proteas Veterans captain Louis Koen mentioned before the tournament.
He was the first player from the old Western Province Cricket Board to be selected for the Nuffield Week, and represented both WP and South African Schools in 1990 along with current teammates Mario Solomons, Saleem Mukuddem and Munier Holiday.
Taliep played for the SA students team that toured Zimbabwe and Kenya in 1994, sharing a field with future Protea stalwarts Shaun Pollock, Lance Klusener and Nicky Boje.
With best bowling figures of 7/29 and a high score of 140, he will be one of the key players in Cape Town in March.
