At almost 58, Andre Peters is one of older players in the South African side, but he will go into the Over-50 World Cup as one of the form batsmen, having finished as the leading run-scorer at last year’s Interprovincial Tournament in Johannesburg.
A right-handed top-order batsman, he was the South African Schools captain in 1980/81 and 1981/82, and the leading run-scorer in the Howa Bowl (a tournament organised by the old South African Cricket Board during Apartheid) while playing for Eastern Province in the 1989/90 season.
He played club cricket in Australia between 2000 and 2019, becoming the only player in Dandenong District Cricket Association history to feature in four consecutive grand finals.
