Penultimate day's fixtures offer some mouthwatering matches

The penultimate day of the 2023 Over-50s Cricket World Cup brings a raft of top-quality fixtures as the teams that didn’t make the final look to end their campaigns on a high.

The pick of the fixtures takes place at Greenpoint Cricket Club where two of the most consistent teams in the tournament – New Zealand and the USA – face-off to earn third place overall.

Key players from both sides include Kiwi batsman Andrew Hore, who has amassed 258 runs in the tournament to date, and USA’s medium seamer Himanshu Patadia who lies second on the bowling table having claimed 12 wickets at an excellent average of 15.67.

Other key matches include Zimbabwe vs Pakistan at Rylands Cricket Club, where the tournament’s leading run scorer Murray Goodwin (377 runs at an average of 75) will hope to lead his team’s charge and finish the tournament strongly.

Pakistan, in contrast, will look to use their two top bowlers in Muhammad Jaffer and Naeem Tayyab to curtail the African side – both have had stellar tournaments, with Jaffer top of the overall bowling statistics with 13 wickets at an average of 12.85.
